Life in Lower School
At Liberty Tree Academy (LTA), our Lower School students dive into learning with engaging, interactive lessons every day! We use a dynamic teaching method called direct instruction, where teachers keep the energy high and minds active by asking lots of questions. This ensures students stay involved and helps teachers check that everyone understands the material. Plus, daily class discussions let students explore deeper into what’s true and beautiful.
To keep our young learners focused, they enjoy multiple recess breaks to get their wiggles out. Older Lower School students have one recess during lunch. Every student also attends PE or Music daily, balancing book learning with physical activity and musical creativity.
The day begins in Freedom Hall (gym), where students chat quietly with friends behind their teacher’s cone. Teachers greet them warmly before 8:00 and lead them to class to kick off the day. Once in class, they start with a task at their seat, and at 8:00, they all stand to recite the pledge and sing a patriotic song. After a quick uniform check, the learning adventure continues!
At LTA, we believe in the power of praise. Our structured classrooms create a positive environment where teachers celebrate every student’s achievements daily. This positive reinforcement encourages students to excel and keeps classroom issues to a minimum.
