Who We Are
Liberty Tree Academy, founded in 2018, is to become a place where our community can come together to learn, exchange ideas, and grow in the founding spirit of America.
Early on, the founders of LTA were advised that a more geo-centric name should be used: like Falcon Classical Academy. Nice name, but it didn’t come close to describing the goals that motivated the founders to spend the countless months of work that the charter school application process required.
Only the name Liberty Tree Academy with its historical significance could come close to what was intended for this exceptional school committed to offering a genuine Traditional American Education of classical liberal arts to our community. LTA is a home for big ideas. During these historical times, the community needs a place where big ideas can be discussed.
The original Liberty Tree was a famous elm tree that stood in Boston near Boston Common. The mighty elm served as a meeting place for independent-minded colonists in the years before the American Revolution.

Virtues
Courage
At Liberty Tree Academy (LTA), we respect the courage of our country’s founders and encourage our students to live out that courage every day in small ways–from presenting their well-researched views in front of classmates to consulting a teacher about bad behavior witnessed on the playground–in hopes that if our students are ever called to higher acts of courage through civic duty or personal life, a solid foundation will have been built in their characters.
Courtesy
Starting a new venture, whether founding a country as Thomas Paine once advocated or establishing a school like LTA, presents a rare opportunity to set foundational rules and norms. At LTA, we understand that demonstrating politeness and respectful behavior towards others plays a key role in achieving great things. For this reason, courtesy is an essential virtue for our students, both within the school as they interact with one another and outside the school as representatives of LTA, contributing positively to our community and country.
Truthfulness
Cultivating an attitude of truthfulness in the small matters our students encounter daily will lead to a respect for and abidance to truthfulness as those students become adults. At LTA, our hope is to develop, in partnership with families, civic-minded young men and women who will be honest in their dealings.
Prudence
Prudence is the ability to use reason to make good decisions, especially in the absence of authority. This virtue is developed and cultivated through the habitual observance of the other virtues. If students are regularly truthful, for example, they will not lie in the absence of a teacher but will use prudence to make the good decision to tell the truth. Exercising prudence is an important virtue at LTA.
Perseverance
Perseverance is a necessary component of any student’s life. To study and learn, one must persevere until the difficulties of the task seem to disappear. At LTA, we strive to challenge students in all subjects so that they might learn not just the subject at hand, but also the lesson of perseverance.

Our Mission
Liberty Tree Academy prepares students through a traditional, content-rich education in a disciplined and orderly environment, to be self-governing citizens who are equipped to carry out the vision of our Nation’s Founders to preserve and perpetuate liberty.
Our Vision
Liberty Tree Academy is dedicated to an authentic, traditional American education, to be a community that actively cultivates character in a challenging and engaging learning environment.
